Far from your conventional construction project, this historic landmark is an interesting addition to the iLine infrastructure portfolio. Built in 1932, the Ruakiwi Water Tower is Kirikiriroa Hamilton’s oldest water tower and arguably offers the best lake outlook in the city!

Working with Hamilton City Council, iLine was engaged to design and install a common access stair tower connected to the iconic water tower, which has a Historic Place Category 2 listing. This stair structure will be used to inspect, clean, and maintain this significant utility structure.

iLine’s scope of work also included installing a 9-meter-high anti-climb perforated mesh to the stair tower, constructing a walkway along the top of the tower, disestablishing the previous accessway, and adding a new ground-level pathway from the existing entry to the new stair tower.

iLine has enjoyed embracing the challenge of melding the past and present to ensure that this landmark can be easily and safely maintained and continues to be a functional source of pride for the Waikato community.
