Comprised of 10 storeys and filled with a mix of permanently occupied apartments, holiday homes and holiday rentals, the building received an understated facelift, structural upgrades both inside and out, and a number of interior renovations to individual apartments throughout the building. Tauranga-based architectural firm Creative Space Architecture was tasked with modernising the tower, while also respectfully retaining elements that nod to the previous design and the original sister tower that this building sits alongside.
Many of the rectified defects may not be apparent from the exterior, but include vital remediation and improvements related to water ingress, fire safety, HVAC and structural upgrades, ensuring the apartments and ground-floor shops meet today’s compliance standards. Visible upgrade features include a new STO plaster cladding system, rejuvenated front façade, refreshed lobby entrance and the implementation of an impressive curved glass balustrade system.
